Versus’ has announced that game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final had a 1.8 rating. This is the highest rating for a finals’ game in six years. We can only hope that the pens can make thing interesting to keep the viewer interested now that the games have moved to NBC.
Above, is Scott Stevens with the Prince of Wales Trophy in 2003. For those wondering, Ducks captain Paul Kariya chose not to touch the Campbell Bowl. How’d that turn out? Some quick thoughts after the jump.
Dish had the soap box for a day so now it is my turn to pick the Stanley Cup winner. After the jump we will look at the matchup of Sid the Kids’ Penguins against the United Nations Hockey Club… aka the Detroit Red Wings
The Stanley Cup Final will begin on Saturday, televised on Versus. What that means for most of the country is that we’ll be able to start watching the Final with games three and four on NBC, and games five through seven on NBC if necessary. Can’t we at least get the Stanley Cup Final on THIS NETWORK? After the jump, my thoughts on the series between the Red Wings and Penguins.
This picture is hilarious. I loved how the Flyers took the Red Sox theme from 2004 and tried to make it their own. Then again, this is a city whose greatest sports hero is a fictitious character. Maybe next year they could try “Cowboy Up.” Or, they could fill water bottles with coins and start banging them in rhythm on the glass behind the bench.
I had to put this up for Volek and Hale, especially after reading Volek’s post. There’s a shorter highlight on Youtube, but this one is worth watching. Listen to how loud the crowd is when Pittsburgh ties it with around a minute left. Then listen to the absolute silence when Volek scores the winner. It’s stunning.
