Ice and Ivy?

With the idea of playing at Yankee Stadium in doubt, the NHL’s next venture outdoors  could be at Wrigley Field. The NHL is negotiating with the home of the Chicago Cubs to hold the Winter Classic there next season. The Blackhawks would host the Red Wings. This would be the third NHL regular-season game to be played outdoors.  A record 71,217 fans watched the Sabres take on the Pennguins at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, NY this January. In 2003, the Oilers  hosted the Canadiens at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.

CANUCKS DEFENSEMAN BOURDON KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH

Luc Bourdon was killed in a motorcycle accident in Canada on Thursday. He was 21. The Shippagan, New Brunswick native was drafted 10th overall by the Canucks in 2005 and scored two goals and was a plus-7 in 27 games with the Canucks last season.

Panthers Sign Top Prospect Michael Frolik

Ratings for game 1 soar

Versus’ has announced that game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final had a 1.8 rating. This is the highest rating for a finals’ game in six years. We can only hope that the pens can make thing interesting to keep the viewer interested now that the games have moved to NBC.

Capitals sign Karl Alzner

The Caps have signed their 2007 First Round pick to a 3 year deal.  The fifth pick in the 07 draft should step in and be a valuable asset to a team that is a few dman away from being a serious cup contender
